The Center at Spring Street expands programs outdoors

- Submitted to Digital First Meida

The Center at Spring Street is working to provide programs that are not limited to the 200 West Spring Street location. These new programs will augment the health and fitness programs already offered at The Center at Spring Street by opening us up to the outdoors.

With the “Baby Boomer” generation either in or approaching retirement, The Center is sensing a significant need for programs that help older adults, retired or still employed, stay active and promote wellness. Seniors spoke about activities they love at two recent informational meetings and we listened. Programs are being planned based on seniors’ shared interests. The goal is to not only offer outdoor opportunities for recreation, but to also build community through these shared interests. In cooperation with the Wellness Council of Boyertown and through the use of newspapers and social media, we are getting the word out to seniors who love hiking, biking, tennis and golf. This is just the beginning.

A second round of informational meetings is scheduled for Monday, June 26, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m at Boyertown Area Multi-Service, 200 West Spring Street, Boyertown. Attend either of these sessions. Ideas are welcome.

Below are some of the upcoming outdoor meet ups. Please call The Center at Spring Street at 610-3672313 if you are interested in attending any of these activities. Call Center Director, Lori Bernhard or email her at lbernhard@boyertownareamulti-service.org for more information or if you have any questions.
