Police ID body as missing area man
Autopsy results are pending on cause of death
DOUGLASS (BERKS) » State Police have identified the body of a man found in Douglass Township on Tuesday, May 30.
Troopers from the Reading barracks said Wednesday, May 31, that the body of Ryan Neal Fedak,
32, of Pottstown, was found early Tuesday morning on Quarry Road in Douglass Township by a police officer. Authorities said they identified Fedak through fingerprints.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy Wednesday but said that the cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results. Fedak was pronounced dead at 8:01 a.m. on Tuesday.
Fedak was reported missing to Pottstown Police on May 26. Previous reports from Digital First Media said Fedak was last seen on Friday, May 12. Fliers made in search of Fedak said that he only took his cell phone, laptop and a change of clothes when he left. Additionally, he had medication that needed to be taken daily but he did not have it with him.
He had been driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima with Pennsylvania tags reading KGJ7101.
Police were called to Quarry Road, between Constitution Avenue and Benjamin Franklin Highway, after a body was found just before 7 a.m Tuesday.
West Pottsgrove police, Pennsylvania State Police, Douglass Township police and the Berks County Coroner were all on the scene.
According to news sources, an officer from West Pottsgrove police first noticed a foul odor as he was driving through the area at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. He returned later during daylight hours and located the body near a water runoff basin.
State Police are in charge of the investigation.
