Now through June 13 Annual Home Garden Contest: With categories for both new and experienced gardeners, the 2017 Home Garden Contest is open to all residents of Boyertown and Pottstown Boroughs. For information go to www.StLukesLutheran,church June 10 Philadelphia Ave Street Fair: The Berks-Mont Business Association is hosting the 2nd annual street fair Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. -6 p.m. on East Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown. There is a full line up of entertainment, including live music by The Mango Men, Kendal Conrad, Michael Kropp and the Boyertown Alumni Band – as well as a DJ providing music throughout the day. A rock wall, zip line, bungie trampoline bounce, exotic animal show, street performers and many, many food options will round out the day’s offerings. For foodies, there will be a wide variety of hometown favorites, food trucks, sweets & treats, a beer garden and an outdoor café with music. The Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust will offer short jaunts on the north portion of track for $5 per person. June 10 National Get Outdoors
Day: at Blue Marsh Lake will be held Saturday, June 10, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Berks County Parks & Recreation Department will offer a full day of outdoor activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be more than 35 clubs and organizations that will be on site to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day, and Get Outdoors PA at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area. National Get Outdoors Day is an annual event that encourages healthy outdoor recreation, and Get Outdoors PA is a year-round guide to outdoor recreation programs and sites around Pennsylvania (visit the website for a calendar.). Highlights include a visit with PennSTAR Emergency Services Helicopter; Fishing for kids; how to Fly Fish and tie a Fly-Tye; Kids can do a fun run with Pagoda Pacers or the whole family can bring your bikes and join a group bike ride with BAMBA at noon and much more.
June 12 New Hanover AARP Annual Summer Picnic: will be held on Monday June 12 at noon at the New Hanover Lutheran Church. All AARP members who have signed up are invited to attend and are reminded to bring a Bingo prize!
June 15-17 Mountain Springs Country Fair: The Fair is set for June 15 to 17 at Mountain Springs Arena in Shartlesville. Applications for the Fair Queen Contest are being accepted, with the local winner going on to the state contest in Hershey in January. We are also accepting entries for the Farm Combine Demo Derby on Saturday night. Baking contests are listed on our website at www.mountainspringscountryfair.org as is all the entry rules for all classes of competitions. Thursday night will feature music entertainment by the “Large Flowerheads.” Friday night is Country Junction Band, Friday is a Line Dance night with NUGGET.
