Two-win week for Bears field hockey team

Field hockey

Sydney Fox and Ashley Dierolf each scored in the Bears’ PAC Liberty Division victory on Sept. 8. Cassie Kidwell added an assist for the Bears who moved to 1-1 on the season. Hailey Levengood and Haley Gable combined for a strong effort in net only allowing one goal and coming up with two and four saves respective­ly.

The Bears (2-1) scored both their goals in the opening half then held on to down the Tigers in non-conference play on Sept. 9.

Allison Melahn opened it up with a score on a corner before Sydney Fox scored off a feed from Cassie Kidwell. Hailey Levengood and Haley Gable combined for eight saves in goal while Amber Marburger and Asia Swenk were strong on the defensive end.

Boys Soccer

Jimmy Towers scored two goals to lead the Bears in their non-league victory over the Blazers on Sept. 9.

Ryan Burkhardt completed the point production for Boyertown (2-0). Assists were credited to Ben Wise, Sal Marciante and Connor Reiss.

Girls Soccer

The Wildcats’ Mahogany Willis struck in the opening minutes and went on to score

three goals in OJR’s PAC Liberty win on Sept. 8. The Bears’ Corinne Renninger scored a consolatio­n goal late for the Bears.

Boys Golf

SPRING-FORD 196, BOYERTOWN 238 » Ben Pochet posted a oneunder 35, helping the Rams defeat the Bears in PAC play at Turtle Creek on Sept. 8. Jack Straub (39), Drew Fuhrman (40), Nate Pierce (40) and Josh Brauer (42) rounded out the Rams’ winning card. Mark Engler’s 42 was the low score for Boyertown.

Girls golf

BOYERTOWN 195, HATBORO-HORSHAM 216 » Savanna Haas carded a 5-over 40 to lead the Bears to a PAC win over the Hatters at Twin Ponds on Sept. 8.

Kat Kovatch followed with a 48 while Emma Hauser (53) and Natalie Stabilito (54) rounded out Boyertown’s scorecard.

Boys cross country

BOYERTOWN 19, METHACTON 39

» Boyertown senior Josh Endy won the race in 17:19 as the Bears had four of the top 5 finishers on Sept. 7.

Methacton Matt Varghese placed second in 17:28, followed by the Bears’ Todd Baron (17:39), Christian McComb (17:43) and Dom DeRafelo (18:11).

Girls cross country

METHACTON 15, BOYERTOWN 48

» The Warriors swept the top 5 with race winner Carly Ukalovic (22:12), Sarah Nicoletti (22:27) and Anna Price (23:14) finishing 1-2-3 on Sept. 7. Boyertown’s top finisher was Zora Bergey, who placed sixth in 23:37.

Girls Volleyball

SPRING-FORD 3, BOYERTOWN 0

» The Rams defeated the Bears in straight sets, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-12 on Sept. 6. Carly Swenson posted 24 assists and three kills while Lindsey Dadourian had five kills and two blocks. Alexis Palucki had seven kills and a pair of blocks while Olivia Olsen had nine kills and three digs. Grace Kraft (three aces) and Lauren Stenson combined for 17 digs.
