Two-win week for Bears field hockey team

Field hockey

Syd­ney Fox and Ash­ley Dierolf each scored in the Bears’ PAC Lib­erty Divi­sion vic­tory on Sept. 8. Cassie Kid­well added an as­sist for the Bears who moved to 1-1 on the sea­son. Hai­ley Le­ven­good and Ha­ley Gable com­bined for a strong ef­fort in net only al­low­ing one goal and com­ing up with two and four saves re­spec­tively.

The Bears (2-1) scored both their goals in the open­ing half then held on to down the Tigers in non-con­fer­ence play on Sept. 9.

Allison Me­lahn opened it up with a score on a cor­ner be­fore Syd­ney Fox scored off a feed from Cassie Kid­well. Hai­ley Le­ven­good and Ha­ley Gable com­bined for eight saves in goal while Am­ber Mar­burger and Asia Swenk were strong on the de­fen­sive end.

Boys Soc­cer

Jimmy Tow­ers scored two goals to lead the Bears in their non-league vic­tory over the Blaz­ers on Sept. 9.

Ryan Burkhardt com­pleted the point pro­duc­tion for Boyertown (2-0). As­sists were cred­ited to Ben Wise, Sal Mar­ciante and Con­nor Reiss.

Girls Soc­cer

The Wild­cats’ Ma­hogany Wil­lis struck in the open­ing min­utes and went on to score

three goals in OJR’s PAC Lib­erty win on Sept. 8. The Bears’ Corinne Ren­ninger scored a con­so­la­tion goal late for the Bears.

Boys Golf

SPRING-FORD 196, BOYERTOWN 238 » Ben Po­chet posted a one­un­der 35, help­ing the Rams de­feat the Bears in PAC play at Tur­tle Creek on Sept. 8. Jack Straub (39), Drew Fuhrman (40), Nate Pierce (40) and Josh Brauer (42) rounded out the Rams’ win­ning card. Mark En­gler’s 42 was the low score for Boyertown.

BOYERTOWN 195, HATBORO-HOR­SHAM 216 » Sa­vanna Haas carded a 5-over 40 to lead the Bears to a PAC win over the Hat­ters at Twin Ponds on Sept. 8.

Kat Ko­vatch fol­lowed with a 48 while Emma Hauser (53) and Natalie Sta­bil­ito (54) rounded out Boyertown’s score­card.

BOYERTOWN 19, METHAC­TON 39

» Boyertown se­nior Josh Endy won the race in 17:19 as the Bears had four of the top 5 fin­ish­ers on Sept. 7.

Methac­ton Matt Vargh­ese placed sec­ond in 17:28, fol­lowed by the Bears’ Todd Baron (17:39), Chris­tian McComb (17:43) and Dom DeRafelo (18:11).

Girls cross coun­try

METHAC­TON 15, BOYERTOWN 48

» The War­riors swept the top 5 with race win­ner Carly Ukalovic (22:12), Sarah Ni­co­letti (22:27) and Anna Price (23:14) fin­ish­ing 1-2-3 on Sept. 7. Boyertown’s top fin­isher was Zora Bergey, who placed sixth in 23:37.

SPRING-FORD 3, BOYERTOWN 0

» The Rams de­feated the Bears in straight sets, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-12 on Sept. 6. Carly Swen­son posted 24 as­sists and three kills while Lind­sey Dadourian had five kills and two blocks. Alexis Palucki had seven kills and a pair of blocks while Olivia Olsen had nine kills and three digs. Grace Kraft (three aces) and Lau­ren Sten­son com­bined for 17 digs.
