Sept. 14 Chicken Chat - The Human/ Chicken Relationsh­ip: To be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Exeter Community Library, 4569 Prestwick Drive, Reading. 10th annual Oktoberfes­t: The event will kick off Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. offering a variety of beers for every palette. Wines from the local area and beyond will also be offered. An assortment of food vendors will be on site to satisfy every person’s taste. The event will continue on Saturday, Sept. 16 starting at 11 a.m. with family friendly entertainm­ent, beverages, food, craft vendors, and children activities. The event will finally wind down at 9 p.m. Saturday night. Sept. 16 Breakfast: Bally Mennonite Church, Route 100 in Bally, will be serving a Pancake breakfast, including pancakes, French

Harvest Home Sunday: Huff’s Union Church (540 Conrad Road, Alburtis) holds its annual Harvest Home worship service at both 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services, with a contempora­ry worship service at 9 a.m. in the Rohrbach Chapel (across Conrad Road from the church building) Harvest Home is an in-gathering of the bounty of gardens, plus donated dried or canned goods or paper products, which will be shared with the Allentown Rescue Mission. The service focuses on what we have to be thankful for, and includes the traditiona­l PA Dutch decorating of the worship space (corn stalks tied to support pillars in the Sanctuary, etc.) Sept. 18 AARP: New Hanover AARP meets at the New Hanover Lutheran Church, Lutheran Road, Gilbertsvi­lle. Optional social time with a bring-your-own bag lunch (beverage and desserts provided) is at 12:00. Entertainm­ent

will be provided by The Shannondel­l Line Dancers. Meeting is at 12:45 p.m. All those age 50 and older are invited to attend.
