Bereavement group: sudSSpirit Bereavement Support Group will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday September 27th at 6 PM at the Exeter Community Library. The group is for those that are survivors of the sudden unexpected death of their spouse or significant other. No registration is required and it is free. Oct. 7 Fire Safety Kids Workshop: To be hosted by the Exeter Home Depot from 9 am - 12 noon. Firefighters from various local volunteer fire departments will be on hand showcasing their apparatus and kids ages 5 - 12 years old may build a fire station bank. Event is free and open to the public with no purchase necessary. Contra Dancing: Birdsboro Contra Dance offers contra dancing on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 7:30 til 10:30 pm at Birdsboro Community Memorial Center, 201 E. Main St. in Birdsboro. Reading Tutors: Volunteers needed for Ready.Set.READ! Program; Help make a difference in a child’s life! Volunteers are needed to tutor 2nd grade students who are struggling with reading at Lorane Elementary, Mt. Penn Elementary and Monocacy Elementary Schools. No previous teaching experience is required. This opportunity is for anyone interested in volunteering weekly for one hour during the 2017-2018 school year. Pagoda Writers: The Pagoda Writers group gets together from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of every month on the second floor of the Pagoda, 98 Duryea Drive, Reading.
Stitching Circle: The Mifflin Community Library’s Evening Stitching Circle meets every Monday from 6:30-8 p.m., and the Afternoon Stitching Circle meets every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New members are always welcome and should bring their own materials. There are currently between 12-15 members who sew, knit and crochet. The group works on personal projects as well as service projects to benefit the community. Come join in loads of fun & stitching!
Writers group: Mifflin Writers Group continues to meet the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. Mifflin Writers Group is composed of writers of all genres and levels of experience. Their purpose is to motivate, inspire, instruct, inform, share and critique each other in their writing efforts in a free flowing and relaxed atmosphere. Most programs encourage pre-registration and take place downstairs at the Mifflin Community Library unless otherwise noted.
