Pickfest gears up for its 11th year

From a small gathering in the Frecon’s Orchard to a town-wide festival

- Submitted to Digital First Media

It’s Apple Season in Boyertown and that means it’s time for Pickfest! This year will be hosted by the Merchants of Boyertown. Come out and experience agriculture, music, food, arts and history that are alive and well here in Boyertown today. Special events will be spread about town all weekend Oct. 13-15 — featuring over 12 musical acts across more than seven venues including eateries, artisan galleries, and specialty shoppes. The whole event will be surrounded with local breweries, cideries, wineries, and spirits.

Celebrating its 11th year, Pickfest has grown from a small gathering in the Frecon’s Orchard to a townwide festival. “As the festival grew in size, so did the need to expand it, and what a better way to expand it than to bring it into the heart of our town and include all of our comrades who celebrate this time of the year with their own artisanal contributions!” notes Hank Frecon of Frecon Farms and one of the creators of Pickfest.

There will be some of the previous attributes, like Frecon’s U-Pick and Orchard Stage. And who can forget the old GMC flatbed truck – the icon of Pickfest – anchoring in the Rail Yard Stage on Saturday featuring some top regional acts like Tin Bird Choir and the Pickfest Host Band, the infamous Manatawny Creek Ramblers.
