Fern Ar­line (Kulp) Schan­ley, 87, of Boy­er­town

Fern Ar­line (Kulp) Schan­ley, 87, of Boy­er­town, wife of the late Claude F. Schan­ley Jr., passed away Wednesday, Septem­ber 27, 2017 sur­rounded by her fam­ily at Sanatoga Cen­ter.

Born in Bech­telsville and a stu­dent at Boy­er­town High School, she was the daugh­ter of the late Wahlon and Vi­ola (Eshbach) Kulp. Fern taught Sun­day school at St. John Hill Church for 25 years. After fin­ish­ing school she worked at Tung Saw in Boy­er­town. She was em­ployed by Grant’s from the day it opened un­til the day it closed. She also ran the Good­will store in the Gil­bertsville Shop­ping Cen­ter and then worked at En­gle Jewel­ers in Gil­bertsville. She en­joyed play­ing cards, watch­ing the Phillies, home­mak­ing, gar­den­ing, spend­ing time with fam­ily, and going to Knoe­bles.

Sur­viv­ing is one daugh­ter Clau­dia Lynn Schott of Boy­er­town; one grand­son Bradley Christo­pher Schott, hus­band of Kris­ten of Boy­er­town; and nu­mer­ous cousins.

Along with her hus­band and par­ents, Fern was pre­de­ceased by her brother Den­nis Lee Kulp.

A funeral ser­vice was held Wednesday Oc­to­ber 4, 2017 at St. John Hill Church, 620 Hill Church Rd., Boy­er­town, with Rev. Mary LakeDillinsny­der of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment fol­lowed at Hill Church Ceme­tery. Catag­nus Funeral Home & Cre­ma­tion Cen­ter, Inc., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gil­bertsville is in charge of ar­range­ments.
