Norman R. Reinert, 91, formerly of Oley

Norman R. Reinert, 91, formerly of Oley, died November 26, 2017 at Penn State Health St. Joseph, Bern Township.

He was the husband of the late Betty C. (Hetrick) Reinert who passed away March 2, 1995.

Born April 14, 1926 in Pleasantville, Oley Township, he was the son of the late Leroy K. and Elda (Swavely) Reinert.

Norman was employed as a head custodian for the Oley Valley School District for 25 years, retiring in 1988.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

Norman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Spangsville where he was a choir member for six years. He was also a member of the Pikeville Sportsman’s Association and the American Legion, Oley.

He enjoyed wood working and long rides through the Oley Valley.

Norman is survived by his two daughters; Lucille K., wife of Russell Mertz, of Narvon, Lancaster County and Ruthann R., wife of Glenn A. Trate of Boyertown, a brother, Howard, husband of Gloria Reinert of Oley and two grandsons, Timothy R. and Joshua R. Trate of Boyertown.

Along with his wife, he was also predeceased by a son, William J. Reinert in 1951 and his sister, Elsie (Reinert) Seidel.

Services will be held Thursday, November 30th at 11 a.m in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 325 Covered Bridge Road, Oley, PA 19547. A viewing will be held Thursday from 9:30 am until 11:00 am in the Church. Burial will follow in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church at the above address.
