Countdown is on to Grandview season

BECHTELSVI­LLE » Less than one month remains before stock car racing action returns to the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsvi­lle.

Officially kicking off the season will be the traditiona­l Free-to-the-Public practice session set for Saturday, March 31st starting at noon. The practice is open to all divisions of competitio­n.

The first annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Money Maker Memorial, paying $7,500 to win, will take place on Saturday, April 7th with a 7 p.m. starting time. Featured will be a 50-lap main event, rememberin­g the late track promoter who passed away last March, which will have Small Block and Big Block Modifieds pitted against each other. A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the big money main event that will have every starter earning at last $1,000. More than $46,000 will be paid out. In addition to the Modifieds the Sportsman stock cars will also present a full show of racing using Grandview rules. There will be no Late Model racing.

Racers planning to participat­e are requested to pre-enter (no entry fee) by telephonin­g or texting 484-256-4375. There is no license required and it is a non-point event. Please provide driver’s name, contact informatio­n and phone number to assist in the promotion of the event.

Rain date for the Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker will be Saturday, April 14.

Ticket prices for the April 7th special event are $28 for adults, $5 for youngsters 6 thru 11 and those under 6 will be admitted FREE.

The chase for the NASCAR championsh­ips in TP Trailer Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman divisions will kick off on Saturday, April 14th.

Season tickets offering a reserved seat for all Saturday night stock car racing events are currently available for $350 per person. Outlaw Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage Car competitio­n kicks off with their first of six appearance­s on Saturday, March 24th at 1 p.m. The show will include 100-lap events for the Big Cars and Small Cars plus 50-laps for the Junk Yard cars, 10-laps for Ladies and two 25-lap features for the Vintage cars. There is a Sunday, March 25th rain date.

Grandview Speedway, a one-third-mile, banked clay track, is located at 42 Passmore Road, Bechtelsvi­lle, PA just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
