Boyertown squad wins three games

Boyertown wins three, including one-run wins over PV, Methacton

Baseball

Jake DiCesare’s two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning proved the difference in Boyertown’s 2-1 win over Perkiomen Valley in Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division play on April 17.

DiCesare finished 2-for-2 and ruined an otherwise solid outing for Perk Valley starter Tyler Strechay.

Boyertown starter Noah Kurtz pitched six complete innings where he scattered five hits and struck out three. Mike Hohlfeld picked up the save, letting a run cross in the top of the seventh before getting the final out on a grounder back to the mound.

Strechay was tagged for six hits and two runs (both unearned) in six innings of work with four strikeouts. AJ Hansen had two hits out of the leadoff spot while Connor McShea had an RBI single. Drew Hartman and Evan Crowe combined their mound skills to limit the Eagles to two hits in the Bears’ PAC Liberty Division victory on April 18.

Hartman racked up six strikeouts in the course of his five-inning stint, with Crowe adding two frames of no-hit relief. Mike Martin (2-for-3) had a three-RBI day for Boyertown while Austyn Levengood and Mitchell Peers (2fodr-3) each drove in two more runs.

Despite going into the sixth inning down 6-2, the Bears battled the Warriors to complete a comeback victory in their PAC Liberty Division game on April 20.

Austyn Levengood drove in three runs with help from a home run as Boyertown scored three times in the sixth and added two more in the seventh. Drew Hartman, the third of four Bears seeing action on the mound, got the win with 1-2/3 innings of one-hit, two-strikeout relief.

Softball

April Hurlock went 3-for-4 with a double, two triples an RBI and a run scored, and Kylie Hertzler added a home run for the Bears, whose two-run ninth was the difference in their PAC Liberty Division game with the Warriors on April 17. UPPER PERKIOMEN 5, BOYERTOWN 0 >> Taylor Lindsay pitched a a three-hitter, and the Indians made an early lead hold up for victory over the Bears in their PAC divisional crossover game on April 18.

Lindsay yielded just a pair of walks against six strikeouts in her complete-game outing. Karlee Fretz, Alyssa Sullivan and Kelsey Bernhart drove in UP runs while Caitlin Keenan had two of Boyertown’s hits. Alexa Schaefer limited the Falcons to one run on five hits and five walks during this PAC divisional crossover matchup on April 20.

Schaefer got all the run support she needed in the first, when the Bears crossed three runs before adding two more in the third. Veronica Maryanski was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Mackenzie Shaner (2-for-2) had a run scored and an RBI. Dayaa Dopwell had two hits and Pottsgrove’s lone run.

The Bears broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim a nonleague victory over the Bullets on April 21.

Kylie Hertzler went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and winning pitcher Alexandria Schaefer struck out four and allowed just one hit in 2-2/3 innings’ relief for Boyertown.

Boys lacrosse

Brad Hart and Jarrod Marenger each scored twice to lead the Rams in their PAC shutout of the Bears on April 19.

Ryan Rosenblum and Nick Teets rounded out the SpringFord scoring, which was highlighte­d by four tallies in the second quarter. Defensivel­y, Kyle Pettine needed to make just seven saves to record the shutout while Cole Metzger had 13 for Boyertown. Brewer Johnson, Brady McFalls, Nick Moccia and A.J. Robinson each scored two goals for Boyertown in its non-league victory over the Patriots on April 21.

Carter Watts, Jonathan Mayan, Alex Axman and Skylar Wallace completed the Boyertown scoring. Moccia and Watts were each credited with pairs of assists.

Girls lacrosse

Amanda Diachynsky led ten different scorers with three goals and three assists as the Bears topped the Falcons in their PAC divisional crossover game on April 18.

Jennifer O’Connor, Liz Tamasitis and Erin Gilbert each scored twice for Boyertown (7-3). Emily Williams had two goals for Pottsgrove.

Sydney Fox scored four times and added a goal in the Bears’ PAC cross divisional rout of the Vikings on April 20.

Kylie Webb added two goals and two assists while Amanda Diachynsky had a hat trick and an assist as Boyertown jumped out to an 11-2 lead by the half. Ashley Dierolf (assist) and Hannah Mitchell scored two goals apiece while Kristi Kada (assist) and Lillian Mauger were each credited with one.

Boys track

Jacob McKenna and Reese Gremban each won pairs of events to key the Rams’ PAC Liberty Division victory over the Bears.

McKenna headed the 1,600 (4:28.41) and 3,200 (10:10.26), with Gremban doing the same in the 300 intermedia­te hurdles (43.96) and 110 highs (17.09). Ethan Michaels gave Boyertown a sweep of the long jump (19-9), triple jump (40-4¾) and high jump (58), and Jamison Moccia won the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.87).

Girls track

Lily Nowakowski won two events to head the Rams’ near-sweep of first place in all events on the way to their PAC Liberty Division victory over the Bears.

Nowakowski got her firsts in the 100 (13.04) and long jump (17-5), in addition to running a leg of Spring-Ford’s winning 4x100 relay (52.18). Boyertown’s lone wins came from Aurora Conrad in the 200 (29.03) and Kayla Yacavone in the discus (104-2½).
