Orchestra to perform free July 4th concert at FirstEnerg­y Stadium.

The Reading Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Andrew Constantin­e celebrate the Fourth of July with a free Star-Spangled Spectacula­r concert of patriotic songs at FirstEnerg­y Stadium, home of the Reading Fightin Phils, followed by a fireworks display on Wednesday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) In the event of inclement weather, the concert and fireworks will be held on July 5.

Musical highlights of the concert include the 1812 Overture, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and the “Armed Forces Medley,” with a special salute honoring veterans. Students from the Orchestra Zone program, a partnershi­p between the Reading School District and the RSO that offers free instrument­al music lessons, are featured in a pre-concert performanc­e.

Free tickets are available in advance for the July 4th concert at the Reading Symphony Orchestra office located at 147 North Fifth Street (Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), at the Reading Eagle office at 345 Penn Street (Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), at the customer service counter at Boscov’s at the Berkshire Mall, Fairground­s, and in Exeter Township (during business hours), and at the Reading Fightin Phils box office (Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and during home games).

Donations of non-perishable food for the Greater Berks Food Bank will be accepted at the stadium entrance. The concert is sponsored by Boscov’s Department Store, together with Tower Health, Berkshire Charitable Foundation, Edwin Barbey Charitable Trust, Performanc­e Toyota, East Penn Manufactur­ing, Customers Bank, Reading Fightin Phils, Reading Eagle, and WEEU. Fireworks are sponsored by Diamond Credit Union.
