Trinity Lutheran Church 1749 S. MAIN STREET, BECHTELSVI­LLE

Currently on our summer worship schedule, we worship each Sunday at 9AM. There will be no 8AM services or Sunday School during the month of August. We will return to our regular schedule on Sept. 2.

Trinity is taking a bus trip to see “Jesus” at Sight & Sound on Sept. 22. We’ll leave from church at 2:30, be back by 11. Dinner included. See Maddy Wyda with any questions.

Worship with us on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost on Aug. 26 at our one service at 9 a.m. Supply Pastor, Pastor Marcia Bell will be leading the congregati­on in the worship service and preaching the morning sermon. The Children’s Sermon will be presented by Donna Menear. Those ministerin­g at this 9 a.m. service are Acolyte; Julia Menear, Lector; Tori Willman, and Greeters/Ushers; Tori and Grant Willman.

On Aug. 28, the Church Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the parlor.

Huff’s Church Cornfest & Hoedown will be held Sept. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. Free admission. $5 Corn Plates include corn, hotdog and watermelon. Music by Toad Creek Ramblers with Keith Brintzenho­ff. Held rain or shine.

St. Luke Lutheran Church 35 WILSON AVE., GILBERTSVI­LLE

Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for worship on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost.

Communion will be celebrated, as we do every Sunday. On Sundays from now until Sept. 2, we will have “Bread Sundays.” Each week the Gospel focus is on Jesus as the Bread of Life. We will celebrate by featuring a liturgy with energetic and rhythmic world music. Our table will be spread with local wine and real bread.

We welcome The Rev. Robert Lee Berger to worship with us. Pastor Berger is an ELCA pastor from Food for the Poor.

On Sunday, we’ll also recognize and thank Betty Shenk, our member who faithfully collects and totals Redner’s receipts for the Save-A-Tape program. By doing so, her efforts, along with those who contribute their tapes, have helped raise money to support St. Luke’s mission and ministry. Thank you, Betty!!

The Community Clothing Rack will not be open Aug. 29 for distributi­on, as it will be the fifth Wednesday of the month.
