‘Suicide Awareness/Prevention’ highlighted by restaurant benefit

As folks in the greater Boyertown region continue to emphasize the need for suicide awareness/prevention efforts a local restaurateur is taking generosity to the next level as he hosts a major dining fundraiser event on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Owner Steve Oswald and the Spunktown Tavern and Restaurant, 699 Englesville Road, Boyertown, will be donating a whopping 20 percent of food and beverage proceeds to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). This will include ALL September 18 purchases from 5 to 9 p.m.

Two Boyertown area AFSP teams, “Spread the Sparkle for Devin” and “Never Forget,” are co-hosting the fundraiser evening at Spunktown Tavern and Restaurant. Both teams have members who have been personally impacted by suicide.

“Spread the Sparkle for Devin” and “Never Forget” are also inviting persons to join them in the AFSP “Out of the Darkness” Community Walk on Sunday, Oct. 7. The event takes place at the Lehigh Parkway in Allentown. Starting time is noon, and walkers will begin meeting at the Parkway location at 10:30 a.m.
