St. Luke Lutheran Church

Our 8:30 a.m. Bible Study will be held Sunday. We will meet to explore the lectionary readings of the day. Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday for worship. This is the 20th Sunday after Pentecost. Communion will be celebrated. The Sr. Choir will sing, “Lord, We Are Your People,” by Patterson.
On Sunday there will be a special Blessing of the Animals. Pictures of members’ pets will be featured in a special slideshow presentation. Children are invited to bring their stuffed animals for a special blessing.
JAM (Jesus and Me) class – children will sit with their parents until Time for the Children. At that point, they will go to JAM class, where they are invited to experience the Bible through a fun and imaginative curriculum.
Following worship, there will be an Adult Forum exploring Presiding Bishop Eaton’s four Emphases on Church, led by Pastor Sief ke.
On Monday, the Church Office will be closed in observance of Columbus Day.
Tuesday is the blood drive from 2-7 p.m.
The Youth Choir will meet Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
The Community Clothing Rack will be open on Wednesday for clothing donation. We now return to our fall schedule being open from 1-4 p.m.
Handbell Choir will rehearse on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Sr. Choir will rehearse Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Congregation Council will meet Thursday at 6:45 p.m. The Community Clothing Rack will be open for distribution from 6-8 p.m.

Trinity will be participating in the Boyertown Area CROP Walk on Oct. 7, 2 p.m., at the Center at Spring Street. The CROP Walk is a community event that raises money to fight hunger both here in Boyertown and around the world. If you’d like to participate, please talk to Pastor Gene or Kathy Farrington.
Operation Christmas Child: Once again, we will be collecting “filled shoe boxes” for children, as a Christmas Project. Gift suggestions: School supplies, small toys, hygiene items, other items (t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, etc. If you need a shoe box or have any questions, please see Kathy Kuser. Please return filled boxes by Nov. 11.
The annual Craft Show will be Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have a book signing by Willard Carpenter. Also this year, The TLC Stitchers are having a Silent Auction on not one but two beautiful quilts. Our Book Sale will again be in the Nursery, any donations of gently used books for this sale will be greatly appreciated. There will be a few new crafters this year, so come on out and see their crafts. Calling all Bakers for this years’ Bake Sale, any donations of breakfast cakes, pies, cookies, cakes, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Posters are available for the show. Please take one or two and display it where you frequent. Lawn Signs are available, please place them at your home or business. Volunteers are needed to set up the Parish Hall for the show, supply lunch, and resetting for church afterwards. Any questions, please see Cathy Yoder.
Boy Scout Troop 511 will sponsor Hoagie Sales on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd Tuesday. To volunteer and to order as a new person, contact Kitty Isett. Pick up will be at the old store every month. Thank you to those who have ordered hoagies in the past years.

The November Niantic News newsletter articles are due into the church office by Oct. 9. At 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, the Finance committee will meet in room B downstairs in the church basement. The Bell Choir will rehearse on Oct. 10 beginning at 6:45 p.m. followed by the Senior Choir rehearsing at 7:45 p.m. The church office will be open on Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Calvary UCC
1231 Route 100, Barto All are welcome to join us for 10:15 am World Communion Worship on Oct. 7 led by Pastor Linda. Communion will be offered by Intinction with breads from around the world. That afternoon we will be walking in the CROP WALK starting at 2 pm.
Our annual Pork and Kraut Dinner will take place on Oct. 13 from 3-6 pm.
Faith Formation for all ages takes place at 9 am Sunday mornings. Children will meet in the Sunday School wing and adults will meet in the Fellowship hall. All are invited to join us!
