Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods will make another appearance at the Shoemakersville Fire Company #l, 300 Church Ave., Shoemakersville, on March 23.

Firefighter David Rubright, who is among those taking ticket sales, posted on Facebook on Feb. 4 that tickets are going fast.

Doors will open for the Banquet Hall at 5:30 p.m. and the kitchen will start serving at that time. There will be a cash bar also. The Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Auxiliary and Firefighters. Event sponsor is Thrivent Financial.

“Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods is a well- known local group playing 50s, 60s, and 70s music. Come out for local entertainment on a cold night and patronize our firefighters and auxiliary,” said Susan Lutz, Treasurer of Auxiliary and chair of the event.

The Auxiliary will be making hot roast beef sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, French fries, chicken corn noodle soup, chili, Dutch platters and lots of homemade baked goods.

“We take public donations for the baked goods as well. Senior citizens usually help us out,” she said.

Proceeds benefit the fire company.

“The Auxiliary works with the firefighters to purchase much needed items for the all-volunteer fire company,” said Lutz. “Our mission for the Auxiliary is to compliment the firefighters on all their endeavors and working cohesively for the betterment of the company. The ladies look forward to these events yearly.”

Lutz explained that they are presently working on putting new ceiling tiles in the kitchen “for a more pleasant aesthetics for the kitchen for shrimp night and our events.”

Previously they purchased equipment for the firefighters.

“To keep a Fire Company in operation requires a lot of money for gas for the trucks and necessary equipment required to keep our men safe at scenes,” she said.

Lutz added, “We have a great group of dedicated, willing firefighters to help us out on our events. Without them we couldn’t do what we do as they provide the muscle and willingness to help. Not everyone can be a firefighter but we think we have the very best.”
