One injured in mobile home fire
One person was injured early Friday morning after a mobile home caught fire and spread to a nearby addition.
Authorities said they received a call at around 8:05 a.m. for a mobile home that had caught fire on the 1300 block of Manatawny Road. Crews arrived to find a fully involved fire that had spread to an addition.
“With such heavy fire load already, crews took a defensive operation right out of the gate. There was an addition to the original trailer that needed more work to be brought under control,” said William Campfield, deputy chief of Earl Township Fire Company.
Given the rural location of the fire, additional tankers were brought to the scene to supply water.
Firefighters were able to douse the blaze in just under an hour. The scene was cleared by 11 a.m.
Campfield said one homeowner suffered burn injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment. The severity of the injuries is not currently known. No fire personnel suffered any injuries.
Authorities said pets were also removed from the home. One cat was rescued from the blaze and another remains missing, Campfield said.
A State Police Fire Marshal will be investigating to determine a cause.
The fire was located just a few miles away from a fire earlier in the week that burned a two-story woodworking shop on Longview Road. In that incident, one firefighter was taken to the hospital after debris had fallen on him. He has since been released from the hospital with no restrictions, according to the fire company.
