Colebrookdale Railroad receives $2,500 grant

- MediaNews Group

BOYERTOWN >> Colebrookdale Railroad recently received a grant award from the Walmart Corp. through their local community distribution.

Walmart in the Bechtelsville area presented the railroad with a check for $2,500. Colebrookdale Railroad will use the newly acquired funds to help provide underprivileged children a chance to ride the train during the Christmas season.

The railroad has presented 50 vouchers to the Boyertown Area Multi Service Center for a ride in their deluxe coach car. There are several holiday train excursions for passengers scheduled starting from November 16th through December 23rd. Voucher recipients have a choice between a ticket for Santa’s Polar Bear Express or ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

On Santa’s Polar Bear Express, passengers can have the chance to join Santa on a magical adventure into Christmas past, on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the United States! Enjoy some Christmas cookies and complimentary hot cocoa while the children write their letters to Santa (don’t worry, we provide the crayons!). They’ll have a chance to deliver them in person when Santa makes his grand entrance, carrying a special gift in his sack for every child. On select trains, guests can take part in a rendition of favorite carols as the Secret Valley scenery passes by the train windows. The Victorian charm of our heated coaches will help make Christmas memories that will last a lifetime.

A brand new addition to the railroad this holiday season is Santa’s Trolley! Passengers will be able to join us on a magical adventure on our 1930 Philadelphia-built Brill Motorcar, complete with a story time with Santa and a free souvenir. More information about this event is available on our website.
