Boyertown wrestling batters Methacton, 58-16

The Bears pinned in four of the first five weights and rolled to a PAC victory Wednesday night over the Warriors, in a faceoff of two of the league’s new head coaches.

Alan Alexander set the tone at 170 with a 6-5 win over Roman Moser, then Jimmy Sinclair (182), Preston Fox (195), Anthony Bauer (220) and Robert Terra (285) pinned in consecutiv­e matches to build a 27-0 lead. Other Bear winners by fall were Julien Maldonado (120) and Nate Quay (132). Luke Heimbach won by technical fall at 106, helping give Nikolas Christine his first PAC win.

Methacton’s wins came in the final three bouts: Edgar Carbajal and Brody Brokowski pinned at 145 and 160 and Kibwe McNair won by major decision at 152. The Warriors are headed by Tony Haley, back for a second stint leading the program.

Boys basketball

Fresh off two wins last week, the Boyertown boys basketball team kept its roll going Tuesday by edging Spring-Ford, 4330, in a Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division pairing.

Leading the Boyertown offense was Alex Obarow with 11 points, Tre Diguglielm­o adding eight points and the trio of David Leh, Mason Marinello and Aarick Salata each hitting for six. The Rams were led by Tre Medearis with 11 and Zack Skrocki with 10 points.

Girls Basketball

The Bears erupted for 23 points in the first quarter Thursday to get the easy win over the Vikings in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Julia Smith scored 12 of her game-high 15 points in the opening frame. The Bear defense blanked UM in the first and third quarters.

Lucy Olsen headed a trio of double-figure scorers that lifted the Rams over the Bears in Tuesday’s PAC Liberty Division action.

Olsen’s game-high 18 points was complement­ed by Alyssa Yuan’s 13 and Emily Tiffan’s 12 as Spring-Ford bolted to a 23-5 first-quarter lead that went to 33-12 at the half. Ashley Kapp had 14 points, and Julia Smith 12, to head Boyertown.

Winter track

Elise Rota headlined the Boyertown girls’ team’s strong outing in the weekend’s Delaware Valley Girls Track Coaches Associatio­n meet at Lehigh University.

Rota set a school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at the 10-foot mark. She was one of three Lady Bears with qualifying marks for the Meet of Champions, joned by Emma Elwell (60 meters) and Renee Simmonds (shot put).

Boyertown competitor­s posted 10 personal bests.

Boys Swimming

in 20 events

Nolan Benner and Conner Stoudt each won two individual events in Boyertown’s win over Pottsgrove Wednesday.

Stoudt took first in the 200 IM (2:08.78) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.15) while Benner won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Other

Bears individual winners were Justin Morris (200 free) and Harry Tye (500 free). Pottsgrove’s lone winner was Declan Keener in the 100 butterfly (59.28).

Girls Swimming

Madison Tyson and Hannah Shaner had two individual wins each in the Bears’ win Wednesday.

Tyson topped the 200 free (2:10.17) and 100 free (1:00.08), Shaner placed first in the 200 IM (2:22.19) and 500 free (5:50.78) while Katherine Kummerer figured in on three wins, two relays and the 100 butterfly (1:07.57).
