Difficult week for Boyertown boys basketball after 0-3 run

Boys basketball

Norristown held a tight lead entering the fourth and pulled away from the Bears for a PAC Liberty win Wednesday.

Willie Anderson led the Eagles with 14 points. He knocked down three of Norristown’s six three-point shots and went 5-for-5 from the stripe in the fourth to help close out the win. Nizer Kinney added 13.

Tre Diguglielm­o netted 13 points, including a pair of triples for Boyertown, and Aarick Salata and Mason Marinello both chipped in nine.

Erik Timko headed a trio of double-figure scorers that led the Warriors past the Bears in Thursday’s pairing of high-placed PAC Liberty Division teams.

Timko had a game-high 17 for Methacton, which got 14 from Brett Eberly and 12 from Jeff Woodward ... part of a double-double that included 20 rebounds. Tre Diguglielm­o was Boyertown’s leading scorer with 14, and Mason Marinello chipped in with another 10.

After trailing to start the fourth quarter, the Golden Panthers overtook the Bears in the final 90 seconds to come away with Saturday’s PAC crossover win.

Justin Green led PJP with 14 points and Luke McCarthy had 13, followed by eight from Drew McKeon, who knocked down two triples in the second half. Tre Diguglielm­o had 11 for Boyertown, while Aarick Salata and Alex Obarow had eight apiece.

Girls basketball

Nicole Timko headed a trio of double-figure scorers that propelled the Warriors to victory over the Bears in Thursday’s PAC Liberty Division play.

Timko netted a game-high 15 points ahead of teammates Sydney Tornetta (12) and Sydney Hargrove (10). Amber Marburger scored 10 points and Madison Konnick seven to head Boyertown.

The Bears’ defense put the clamps on the Eagles early Friday, setting the tone for their PAC Liberty Division victory.

Boyertown limited Norristown to 12 points through the first three quarters while scoring 43. Ashley Kapp and Julia Smith led the offense with 13-point outings, the locals getting points from 11 of 15 players seeing action.

Boys Swimming

Owen Miller and Nolan Benner figured in on six wins by the Bears in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Warriors.

Miller took the 200 free (1;49.97) and 100 free (48.71), with Benner doing the same in the 200 IM (2:02.95) and 100 fly (52.28). They also swam legs of Boyertown’s first-place 200 medley (1:40.47) and 400 free (3:23.54) relays.

Christophe­r Groff was a two-event winner for Methacton, heading the 50 free (23.49) and 100 back (55.85).

Girls Swimming

Gabrielle McKee and Angie Nelson combined on seven first-place finishes by the Bears in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Warriors.

McKee won the 200 IM (2;11.78) and 100 fly (59.83) while Nelson headed the 50 free (26.43) and 100 breast (1:08.49). They also swam legs on Boyertown’s winning relays, both in the 200 medley (1:55.60), McKee in the 400 free (3:56,78) and Nelson in the 200 free (1;48.32).

Wrestling

The Wildcats rebounded from a slow start against the Bears to prevail in their PAC Liberty Division match Wednesday.

Pins by Robert Terra (285) and Luke Heimbach (106) helped Boyertown score 18 unanswered points at the start. But Owen J. responded with its own pin procession, using falls by Jacob Dunleavy (138), Connor Leister (145) and Cole Bechtel (160) — along with Antonio Petrucelli’s technical fall at 142 — to take a 32-22 lead before Nick Hagen (182) and Francis McCoy (220) capped the surge with falls.

Winter track

A high finish by their 4x200 relay team was the highlight for the Boyertown boys in Saturday’s Track & Field Coaches Associatio­n of Greater Philadelph­ia (TFCAGP) meet at Haverford College.

Andrew Galanti, Julian Saunders, Jacoby Bardsley and Peyton Rotonda combined on a 1:40.69 clocking good for fourth place among 20 contestant­s. Boyertown also got a seventhpla­ce finish from its 4x800 relay of John Black, Ryan Desmornes, Cameron Kratz and Eric Muthersbau­gh in the 4x800 (8:45.83), and a ninth from Eddie Weick in the 60 hurdles (10.43).
