The Community Prevention Partnership (CPP), strives to make a difference by offering a variety of prevention services to Berks and Schuylkill county communities to address problems and risks associated with: poverty, alcohol, tobacco and drugs, violence, teen pregnancy, abuse, crime, school dropout, childhood obesity, and other related social issues and health issues.
CPP serves thousands of individuals and families each year through eight prevention and intervention programs:
Nurse-Family Partnership of Berks County serves 254 first-time mothers and their child with a specific focus on personal health.
Nurse-Family Partnership of Schuylkill County serves 75 first-time mothers/families and their children.
Parents as Teachers serves 285 low-income families parenting children birth through kindergarten, reaching 400 children. This home visitation program helps families understand and promote child growth and development.
-Circle of Friends serves 235 adult behavioral health members annually by providing them with educational, recreational and socialization opportunities.
-Kids Against Pressure provides services to about 135 third through fifth graders in an after-school program and a two-week summer camp experience, teaching conflict resolution, how to develop social skills to build positive peer relationships and participate in character-building activities.
-Eat, Play, Grow serves about 80 Latino families and 120 children ages2-6 in the childhood obesity prevention program.
-Parent Partner Program serves about 43 families with children through mentoring, advocacy resource and referrals translation for Spanish-speaking parents as they navigate the child-serving systems.
