TriCounty Area Chamber hosts annual Boyertown Progress Dinner
The event featured student produced video, presentation of award
The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its annual Boyertown Area Progress Dinner — presenting the James K. Boyer Quality of Life Award and updating members and guests about businesses in Boyertown.
More than 180 local business professionals, school administrators, and community leaders attended the event held Wednesday, March 13 at La Massaria at Bella Vista Golf Course.
Greg Herb, of Herb Real Estate was presented with the chamber’s James K. Boyer Quality of Life Award. The award was presented to Herb by Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach, a former recipient of the James K. Boyer Award.
Herb received the award for his many volunteer positions and contributions to the community, according to a press release. In his acceptance speech, Herb said that he had met James Boyer many years ago, saying
Boyer “was a great man and I’m honored to accept an award in his name.”
An always popular portion of the annual dinner is a video produced by the telecommunications students at Boyertown Area Senior High School.
This year’s video — “Progress on the Boyertown Express,” — highlighted three Boyertown businesses. It featured interviews with Brenda Cullen, owner of The Atherton Inn, 11 East Philadelphia Ave.; Sean Deviney, vice president of the Body-Borneman Companies, 17 E. Philadelphia Ave.; and Doug Nestler, owner of The Crossroads Guitars & Art, 1041 E. Philadelphia Ave in Gilbertsville. The video was done through detective interviews — following the movie theme of “Murder on the Orient Express,” the chamber said.
Eileen Dautrich, president of TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce said the annual progress dinner is a “great event to help bring awareness to the businesses within the Boyertown Area.”
