Swimathon raises $4K

-

On Aug. 21, The HSC Pediatric Center’s Kids in Action adaptive sports and social activities program held their first Swim-AThon at the Crofton Village Pool. Abby, 10, and Josh, 8, Cohen, lovingly known to Kids in Action as “Team Abjo”, swam their hearts out and doubled their goal!

Donors were encouraged to pledge a flat or per lap amount and the community came together to raise over $4,000 for Kids in Action. Why did Abby and Josh, residents of Gambrills, choose to raise funds and swim over a combined 168 laps for Kids in Action? Well, they have grown up with Kids in Action in their lives, they actively host Facebook Live events for Kids in Action and also just happen to beRobyn Cohen’s kids!

Robyn is manager for Community Recreation Services at The HSC Pediatric Center inWashington, D.C, she founded the Kids in Action programin 2010, and has lead it since 2010. Kids inAction is an adaptive sports and social activities program for children and young adults with disabilities and their siblings.

We firmly believe that all kids should have the chance to play sports and be a part of activities with others their ownage. We adapt our sports, social, and health-based activities

and focus on each child’s goals and strengths. Kids in Action is open to all children, young adults and their siblings in theDMVarea.
