Trump’swordsmatter
The most consequential election in my lifetime is less than two months away. I can’t wait. Because of the implications, I implore your readers and eligible voters to pay careful attention to President Donald Trump’s words and actions, past and present.
All his words matter and here is a sampling of the headliners: “It is what it is;” “I always wanted to play it down;” “I don’t take responsibility;” “We test more by far than anybody and when you test you create cases;” “Coronavirus was deadlier than your strenuous flu;” and “I like war heroes whoweren’t captured.”
We must also remember that, unfortunately, our current president is prone to exhibit the following unconventional and unpresidential behavior on a daily basis: distort the truth with bald-faced lies; obfuscate; mislead; throw tantrums; fomentchaos; demonize peaceful protesters; espouse unfounded claims about mail-in voting and absentee ballots; undermine confidence in the election process; call Russian interference in our elections a hoax’ fire dedicated government employees who root out administration corruption; dismiss established health guidelines; endorse untested miracle cures and wishful thinking about availability of a vaccine; play politics with scientific data such as mask-wearing; embrace conspiracy theories and fringe groups like Q Anon; disparage the media, lack empathy, and disrespect members of the armed forces who have fought and died.
Most of us should agree that such actions do not depict a competent, trusted leader. I hope voters realize this president in consumed only with his reelection and not thewell-being of our nation.
I believe most of your readers care too deeply to relive the nightmare of the past four years. So please remember when casting your vote that indeed “Donald Trump’swords and actions truly matter”. JIM SCOTT
