Democracy or autocracy?

-

What bothers me the most is our country’s rapid movement from a democratic republic toward an autocratic empire. While (Emperor) Donald Trump is not walking around without any clothes, thank goodness, those around him are ignoring and accepting what he is doing.

And why not? If you express an opposing view, you are harassed and sent packing with your career potentially ruined. Now all the people that surround the president are pawns of the master manipulator. Nobody around the president defends or supports others that take a stand against Trump.

He has skillfully divided his opposition and created a coalition of support that defies logic, promising the best of this or that according to whoever his audience is at the time.

I do not think this is quite what the Republican Party wanted, but in their quest for power at all costs, they have put Trump and the party above the interests of the American people.

The judicial branch has been flooded with Trump appointees. The attorney general no longer looks after the rights of the people, but instead, he and his organization serve as the president’s legal team. Who will be there to protect you when you are not in lock-step with Trump’s desires?

We have got to stop this. Elections are the best option nowto save our democracy. Joe Biden is not the perfect candidate; nobody is. But Biden is the best choice that we have, and I believe that he is a good choice. Biden is a much better choice than the alternative. If you listen to what Biden says, notwhatTrumpsays thathe says, you will see that he has a platform that will be good for the American people.

Bring on the debates! Vote!
