AAMC marks 1,000th discharge
Anne Arundel County adds 45 virus cases, no deaths
Anne Arundel Medical Center celebrated another milestone with a patient discharge Wednesday as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sicken people and send them to local hospitals.
Caregivers at Anne Arundel Medical Center formed a “clap line” to celebrate the discharge of Claudia Solorzano, the 1,000th discharged coronavirus patient. Solorzano, 35, stayed at the hospital for one night.
Solorzano’s discharge comes as Anne Arundel County continues to endure the coronavirus. The county confirmed 45 new coronavirus cases and no new deaths Thursday, according to state health data. Maryland confirmed 761 new coronavirus cases and six deaths.
Numbers released Thursday morning show the county now has 10,527 confirmed cases and 242 deaths. Another 12 people may have died from the disease, but a lab test was never performed. Maryland now has 129,425 confirmed cases and 3,845 deaths.
AcrossMaryland, at least 2,802,303 tests have been conducted, an increase of more than 29,000 in the last 24 hours, bringing the statewide seven-day average rate of positive cases to 2.79%. Anne Arundel’s rate of positive cases is 3.34%.
The announcement of Solorzano’s discharge is part of a long-running pattern by both AAMC and Baltimore Washington Medical Center to announce patient departures.
Statewide, 403 people are currently hospitalized with 98 patients in the ICU and 305 patients in acute care. Health data shows 15,898 people have ever been hospitalized with 7,676 released fromisolation.
Cases by ZIP code
Here is an alphabetical breakdownof the number of cases in each ZIP code in Anne Arundel County as of Thursday. State numbers are in parentheses.
ZIP codes that overlap more than one county are in italics. The state numbers also account for cases at congregate living facilities in those ZIP codes, which the county numbers do not include.
The county has said that they remove cases from this data as they determine they are from congregate housing, such as nursing homes or retirement communities, which may also account for discrepancies.
