Ravens QB was absent from practice for 2nd straight day
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice Thursday for the second consecutive day.
Jacksonwas sidelined with a knee injury and an illness, according to the team’s injury report. The illness is a new addition. Whiletheteamdid not specifywhatkindof illness, Jackson would have to be added to the reserve/COVID-19 list if hewere to test positive for the coronavirus or have been in close contact with an infected person.
Jackson did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury. ESPN reported that Jackson was held out ofWednesday’s practice for precautionary reasons and the injury is not considered serious. Jackson has yet to miss a game because of injury since taking over as the starter inWeek11 of
the 2018 season.
Robert Griffin III is the Ravens’ backup quarterback, with 2019 sixthround pickTraceMcSorley third-string. Griffin, a former star inWashington, has completed one of two passes for nine yards and an interception this season in mop-up duty. He played in seven games for the Ravens last season, completing 60.5% of his passes for 225 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and added 70 rushing yards. He made one start, a 28-10winover the Pittsburgh Steelers inWeek17 with Jackson resting for the postseason.
Three additional Ravens starters did not practice Thursday: rookie offensive guard Tyre Phillips (shoulder), defensive tackle Brandon Williams (not injury related) and running back Mark Ingram II (not injury related). Phillips also did not practice Wednesday because of a shoulder injury.
Tight end Mark Andrews, who was not listed onWednesday’s injury report, was a limited participantThursdaywith a thigh injury.
Tight endNick Boyle (thigh), cornerbacksMarcus Peters (thigh) and Jimmy Smith (knee) returned to practice Thursday and were limited after not participatingWednesday.
Defensive back-linebacker Anthony Levine Sr. (abdomen) and wide receiver Chris Moore (thigh/finger) were also limited. So was left tackle Ronnie Stanley, who is battling a shoulder and hip injury. The hip injury is a new addition this week; Stanley was also limited with a hip injury inWeek 2.
Wide receiver Marquise Brown (knee), rookie defensive tackle Justin Madubuike (knee) and Derek Wolfe (elbow) were full participants. So was rookie defensive tackle Broderick Washington (illness), who returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday.
Bengals wide receiver John Ross (illness) did not practice Thursday. Running back Joe Mixon (shin), offensive tackle Jonah Williams (shoulder), defensive tackle Geno Atkins (shoulder), cornerback Mackensie Alexander (hamstring) and linebacker Markus Bailey (shoulder) were limited participants. Linebacker Logan Wilson (concussion) was a full participant.
