Men charged after police say they opened fire on an occupied house

Two Glen Burnie men were charged with attempted murder Sunday after police say they opened fire on an occupied house and then fled.

No one was injured in the shooting, Anne Arundel County police said. Officers responded to a house in the 400 block of Maple Lane NW in Glen Burnie around 4:14 a.m. Sunday.

Occupants of the house said two men came to the residence asking for a female who doesn’t live there and then walked away, police said. The men returned and demanded to see the female they were looking for before being told again that she doesn’t live there.

After one of the occupants of the home closed the door, the men fired one shot through the door and then, after getting in a vehicle, fired several more shots into the residence as they left the area, police said. Officers located a vehicle matching the description and tried to stop it, but the driver fled, police said. During a pursuit, the vehicle struck a curb, rendering it inoperable, police said.

Police arrested the driver, identified as Matthew Ashby Tobin, 43, while the passenger, Seth Ian Campbell, 19, ran away. Police said they arrested him a short distance away and recovered a loaded Glock handgun, police said.

Police also found a loaded AR-15 rifle and an Airsoft handgun.

The men are each charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, as well as assault and firearms offenses, online court records show.

Neither of the men had attorneys listed in court records. Both were being held without bail.
