Severn woman arrested after car accident ends with knife assault, Arundel police say

A Severn woman was arrested Sunday after a minor traffic collision ended with awoman cutting a man on the face and hand, Anne Arundel County police say.

Jaylla Coryn Rice, 21, of Severn, was charged with first-degree and seconddegree assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, police said.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Chadwell Court in Odenton around 6:50 p.m. Sunday where they located Rice and an adult male victim, both of whom had minor sharp force injuries. The victim told police Rice and himself were in a minor traffic collision near Annapolis Road and Charter Oaks Boulevard in Odenton.

The victim told police he exited his car following the collision to exchange information with Rice. Rice became “argumentative and violent towards the male,” police reported. The victim then called the police and attempted to drive away from Rice, who followed the victim in her car, police said.

At some point, Rice pulled in front of the victim’s car, cutting him off, and approached the victim with a knife, according to police. The victim fled in his vehicle to Chadwell Court andwas once again pursued by Rice.

Rice blocked the victim from leaving Chadwell Court, exited her car and struck the victim in the face and hand with a knife, he told police. The victim and Rice struggled over the blade, resulting in a cut on Rice’s ankle, police said. Both the victim and Rice were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
