Anne Arundel adds 107 coronavirus cases but no deaths Cases by ZIP codes
Another 107 coronavirus cases were recordedinAnneArundelCountySaturday, according to state health data, bringing the county total to 16,404 cases and 286 deaths since the pandemic emerged inMarch.
No new deaths were recorded Saturday, according to the data from the Maryland Department ofHealth.
There are12 deaths in the county that are likely from COVID-19 but the deceased did not receive a test.
The numbers have fallen fromabove 200 in recent days, although county Health OfficerNilesh Kalyanaraman lastweek that day to day fluctuations are to be expected as the surge continues.
“At these kind of numbers you’re going to see a little wiggle,” he said. “I’m going to guess that, because we’ve seen particularly in the past week or two, we’ve seen some increased delay in getting results. And wouldn’t put too much stock in that as a decrease yet.”
Maryland added 1,590 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 33 more deaths, marking the first time in the past four days the number has fallen below 2,000 cases. Maryland’s total now stands at 194,448 cases and 4,447 virus-related deaths.
More than 27,000 people received a COVID-19 test statewide and 6.8% of tests returned positive for the novel coronavirus, above the 5% metric that factors into reopening decisions.
Current hospitalizations in the state rose slightly with 11 more people requiring in-patient care. There are 1,446 people currently hospitalized with1,095 patients in acute care and 351 patients in intensive care beds across the state. Hospitalization rates continue to climbbehindthe recent surge in new coronavirus cases.
Health officials are bracing to see abump in coronavirus cases and later hospitalizations as people gathered Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
