Anne Arundel County added 157 new coronavirus cases and no new deaths Monday, according to data from the Maryland Department ofHealth.

The total number of cases since the pandemic took hold inMarchnowstands at 16,742. At least 286 Anne Arundel County residents have died. Another12 are believed to have died of the virus but were never tested.

Across the state, 1,923 new cases and 16 deaths were reported. The rolling sevenday statewide positivity rate is now 6.86%, up 0.33% fromSunday.

The state also reported that at least 66 more Marylanders have been hospitalized with the virus, whichGov. LarryHogan said on Twitter pushes hospitalizations to their highest level sinceMay.

The increased numbers come after the Thanksgiving holiday, which officials predicted would cause an increase of cases on top of the fall surge the state is already experiencing.

Dueto an increased demand for tests, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health is requiring appointments at some testing sites to prevent residents from congregating in long lines.

Appointments are required for testing at the Department of Health Annex, Baymeadow Parking Lot and O’Malley Senior Center. To schedule a test or learn
