The Capital

Bob Ogle’s collection

-

It was a pleasure to see the news story on my late grandfather, Bob Ogle Sr., and his lovely collection (The Capital, Nov. 27).

I remember running past them when I was little and I remember his grand collection of them in, placed evenly spaced out, and only a few … maybe six to nine each in these black boxes with glass lids, my whole life they’ve always been in the back of my head, I’ve always wondered where they ended up … and today was the day I found out. So, thank you for that!

My grandfather was amazing, he was everything you could’ve ever wanted in a grandparent, funny as hell! He married my grandmother … so he definitely was a very smart man, and he had this huge library that my father made for him; my father is an architect. He built my grandparents a big and beautiful home in Annapolis, it’s literally a mansion.

His library had a huge chandelier that was in the middle of this wraparound banister overtop the library itself, he had some relics on both stories, some in that wrap around, and the rest on every wall of the library.

He was always out looking for arrowheads, sometimes he came back and got into a mood from an unsuccessful three hours poking dirt with a stick. It happened so much we nicknamed him Grumpy.

Grumpy was a peaceful soul however, he loved his tobacco pipe, he would show his granddaughters howto pack it, and his 22 cats, who some say he loved more than anyone except my grandmother, Nana Nee. Shewas easy to love though.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for acknowledging him, his prized possessions and his hobbies and giving me peace of mind about the whereabouts of my granddad’s arrowheads. MACKA. OGLE Easton
