Severna Park man arrested for child porn
A Severna Park man was arrested Tuesday after Anne Arundel County police said they found child pornography on his devices and determined he was promoting it online.
William Ramsey Derry, 25, has been charged with 10 counts of being in possession of child pornography and nine counts of knowingly promoting or distributing it online, according to online court records.
Derrywas released on his recognizance Tuesday, online court records show. It’s unclear if he’s being represented by an attorney at this time.
Detectives first began investigating Oct. 30, after receiving a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a nonprofit organization focused on finding missing children and curtailing child sexual abuse, according to itswebsite.
Investigators narrowed down their probe by executing a number of court orders, police said. By Nov. 22, detectives had narrowed their probe and searched a house on Larkspur Lane with awarrant.
Detectives seized a number of digital devices from Derry’s residence and extracted their contacts back at headquarters. Police said they took the illicit images into evidence and obtained an arrestwarrant.
Child abuse detectives took Derry into custody Tuesday without incident, the department said.
Despite his arrest, police are asking the public for information.
