Sheeran releases surprise song

Singer Ed Sheeran has given fans an early Christmas present with the release of a surprise track titled “Afterglow” — his first new song in over a year.

Alongside Sheeran’s self-created artwork, the musician has also unveiled a one-take performanc­e video for the song.

“Hey guys. ‘Afterglow’ is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you,” Sheeran revealed Monday, having teased an imminent “Christmas present” on his Instagram page on Sunday.

“It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x.”

Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran in September. He is currently on an extended break.

“Afterglow” is Sheeran’s first release since his “No. 6 Collaborat­ions Project” in 2019.

The Oscar-nominated “Juno” actor also shined a spotlight on Trans Lifeline, a phone service that provides resources and care for trans people in English and Spanish, as well as TranSanta, a project launched by “Pose” star Indya Moore to fulfill transgende­r kids’ Christmas wishes.

Upon his latest update, Page was again showered with admiration from his Hollywood peers, including Moore, his “Juno” co-star Jennifer Garner, actress-singer Janelle Monáe and Daniela Vega, the Chilean actress who became the first transgende­r performer to present at the Academy Awards in 2018.

The singer posted the photos of her cuddling with Dalton Gomez, a luxury real estate agent, on Instagram on Sunday. Grande included a close-up shot of the ring, which was captioned “forever n then some.”

The singer’s mother congratula­ted the couple on Twitter, saying she was excited to welcome Gomez to the family.

People magazine reported Grande and Gomez started dating earlier this year.
