The Capital

President Trump

-

I hope this is my last letter to The Capital focusing on President Donald Trump. Even though there are less than 20 days remaining in his presidency, I fear these could be the darkest days yet … but I hope that is not the case.

I am very concerned that the president’s call to his followers to show up for wild protests in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday will result not just in chaos but utter mayhem and violence. I hope I am wrong but it seems that Trump knows no boundaries when it comes to disrupting democratic norms including fair and legal elections.

His efforts to stir up false frenzy among his millions of loyalists by contending he somehow won the election is one of the most unhinged actions of his presidency. Rather than serve out his term by focusing on the pandemic and the struggle to get vaccines in the arms of all Americans in a timely manner, he is consumed with trying to overturn a legitimate election and golfing.

Rather than shining a well-deserved light on frontline workers in the medical and other professions, as well as consoling those families who have lost loved ones to the virus, he instead files petty grievances and maligns elected officials who are simply doing their jobs.

It’s time for a sanity check. This is indeed a sad chapter in our country’s long and storied history. And I, for one, will look forward to its conclusion on Jan 20. JIM SCOTT

Bulldozers ready

Those eager to usher in President-elect Joe Biden’s administration remind me of how the FBI, under the orders of President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno, bulldozed the Waco Compound after they stormed the property owned by David Koresh and his followers in 1993.

Why did Clinton and Reno order that bulldozing? They wanted us to move on. Bulldozing that tragic site where 20 children and 56 adults died effectively prevented the American public from learning the truth about what happened.

I see a similar pattern in the aftermath of the 2020 election. Many, myself included, question the mainstream line that Biden won in a fair election. Once again, however, we are being told to move on because there is nothing to see. Evidence pointing to 2020 voter fraud is being bulldozed as quickly as Biden ushers can bulldoze.

To Biden’s ushers, I urge them to recall Newton’s Third Law: Formally stated, Newton’s third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I

don’t know what the equal and opposite reaction is going to be. The hubris driving the post-election bulldozing of the 2020 election is not preventing the equal and opposite reaction that is coming. The current bulldozing is feeding the reaction to come. NED COSBY Arnold

Hogan briefings

What has happened to the regular briefings done by Gov. Larry Hogan? We look forward to updates but haven’t received one for weeks.

I think that Maryland can set an example for the country if it would take the approach of “doing whatever it takes,” including pirating any resources in our state and local governments to get the vaccine out. There is no excuse for sitting on our hands because we need federal money.

Long ago, it was clear that states are on their own. So, let’s get on with it with various parts of local governments making whatever sacrifices are needed. VICKI LATHOM
