At least 60 new coronavirus infections were detected Monday in Anne Arundel County, and one more county resident has died, according to data from the Maryland Department of Health.

Four additional residents have been hospitalized with the virus, bringing the total number of hospitalized residents to 54.

The newly reported cases bring the total number of infections in the past year to 35,772 and the total number of deaths to 525. An additional 14 residents are believed to have died of the virus, but were never tested.

The local positivity rate is 4.64%, and the case rate is 14.9 positive cases per 100,000 residents.

Across the state, at 603 new COVID-19 cases were detected and 10 more Marylanders have died of the virus. The total number of cases detected in the last year is now 382,702 and at least 7,697 people have died. At least 904 people are currently hospitalized, an increase of 36 patients, and the statewide positivity rate is now 3.52%.

Vaccinations

Anne Arundel County received an extra 1,300 vaccine doses from the Maryland Department of Health this week, bringing the total allocation to 4,700, County Executive Steuart Pittman said on Twitter Monday evening.

At least 900 of the additional doses will be the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which only requires a single shot. The remaining 400 are Moderna, which is one of the two vaccines that requires two shots.

Across the state, more than 898,000 people have received the first dose of the vaccine and more than 678,000 people have received both doses. Roughly 14% of Marylanders have received the first dose and nearly 8% have received both doses.

In Anne Arundel, 79,687 residents have received the first dose and 41,339 have received both doses.

Gov. Larry Hogan has permitted counties to operate under phase 1C, so state mass vaccination sites and private clinics are accepting all residents eligible in tier 1C. Anne Arundel County remains at phase 1B.
