Eilish to set a solo headliner record

-

Pop singer Billie Eilish, 19, has broken numerous records in her short career. Now she will become the Glastonbury Festival’s youngest ever solo headliner when she takes the stage at the 2022 event.

Eilish teased the news on Sunday on Instagram, posting herself wearing a Glastonbury hoodie in a photo captioned “2022.” The festival’s organizers confirmed Monday that the American singer will perform on June 24.

“This feels like the perfect way for us to return, and I cannot wait!” organizer Emily Eavis said.

The festival was supposed to celebrate its 50th anniversary last year, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, it hosted a five-hour livestream event.

Eilish has taken the world by storm since she broke onto the scene in 2015 with her debut single “Ocean Eyes.” The singer has since won Grammys for record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist. Eilish will be 20 years and 6 months old when she headlines the festival in June.

Meyers pens picture book:

Seth Meyers has dreams beyond hosting his own talk show. “I’ve long wanted to write a story about a bear and am grateful that Penguin gave me the opportunity,” Meyers said in a statement Monday issued by the Penguin Random House imprint Flamingo Books, which announced that Meyers’ picture story “I’m Not Scared, You’re Scared!” will be published March 15.

According to Flamingo, Meyers’ book is an adventure about a frightened bear and a calmer rabbit and how they each learn the real meaning of bravery. It features illustrations by Rob Sayegh Jr. and will also come out in an audio edition narrated by Meyers.

Dylan going on tour: Bob Dylan, 80, has quietly put concert tickets on sale for a tour in support of last year’s album, “Rough and Rowdy Ways.” His website bills it as a “World Wide Tour 2021-2024.”

The concert business is slowly ramping up after the pandemic pause, which grounded Dylan’s so-called Never Ending Tour. Dylan plans to return to live performing Nov. 2 in Milwaukee. Dylan has 21 concerts scheduled through Dec. 2.

‘Venom’ debuts with $90.1M:

Sony Pictures’ Marvel sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” blew away expectations to debut with $90.1 million in ticket sales, making it the best opening of the pandemic, according to studio estimates Sunday. “Venom,” exclusively in theaters, had been forecast to open with closer to half that total.

“The Addams Family 2,” an animated sequel from MGM and United Artists launched simultaneously on video-on-demand, opened with $18 million. “The Many Saints of Newark,” the prequel to “The Sopranos” that’s also on HBO Max, flopped, opening with $5 million.
