Severna Park keeps rolling with 4-0 win over South River

Severna Park stayed undefeated on the season Thursday by earning a shutout victory over South River, 4-0.

It marks the second win for the Falcons (5-0, 6-0) over the Seahawks (4-3, 6-3) this fall.

Severna Park goals were scored by Delaney Abere, Meredith Schepens, Maddie Evans and Zoe Day, while goalie Charlotte Kramer made three saves to keep South River off the scoreboard.

The duo of Lily Kerr (6 saves) and Reagan Beal (4 saves) combined at goalie for South River.

Field hockey

Crofton 10, Glen Burnie 0

The Cardinals (6-1, 6-1) earned the shutout win over the Gophers (1-3, 3-6). Goal scorers for Crofton were Bella Mish (2 goals), Rian Dennis (2 goals, assist), Ava Poole (goal, 4 assists), Lindsey Roberts (goal, assist), Olivia Feeley, Sophia Galarza, Grace Morris and Emily McClung. Abby Jefferies (2 assists), Corynn Green and Emma Humphrey each had assists.

Glen Burnie sophomore goalie Abbey Hanson finished with 14 saves.

Chesapeake 8, Meade 0

Charlotte Alexander (2 goals, assist), Erin Bock (2 goals), Sydney Reeves (2 goals), Alyssa Krueger (goal, 3 assists) and Tinna Mavica (goal, assist) all had big offensive games to lead the Cougars (3-5, 3-5) to the shutout win over the Mustangs (0-5, 0-6).

Southern 5, Northeast 0

The Bulldogs (5-3, 5-3-1) shut out the Eagles (3-2, 3-2) behind goals from Izzy Wooster (2), Ava Wooster, Kylie Durkin and Lilly Green. Northeast goalie Hannah Fox made 13 saves, while defenders Ida Cann and Cassandra Mauck each recorded a defensive save.

Garrison Forest 3, Spalding 1

The Cavaliers (4-1, 8-1) lost for the first time this fall, getting their lone goal from Ally Keith off an assist from Bridget Donovan. Garrison Forest was led by two goals and an assist from Dani Mendez. Spalding goalie Ruby de Frees made nine saves.

Old Mill 3, Annapolis 2

The Patriots (6-2, 6-3) edged the Panthers (2-5, 2-5) for their third straight victory.

Arundel 3, Broadneck 1

The Wildcats (4-3, 4-4) won their fourth straight game and avenged a loss earlier this fall against the Bruins (3-3, 6-4).

Girls soccer Crofton 1, Southern 0 Severna Park 1, South River 0

The Falcons (5-1, 7-1) got a goal from Eleni Puzas off an assist from Abby Cover in the shutout win over the Seahawks (3-3-1, 4-5-1). Mal Scheimreif made three saves to keep the clean sheet. South River goalie Erin McGaha made 15 saves.

Northeast 3, North County 1

Caitlyn Cornwell scored two goals and Jazmene Cantagallo added the other to go with an assist, as the Eagles (6-1-1, 7-1-1) defeated the Knights (1-6, 1-6-1). Kaya Pullins added an assist, while Northeast goalie McKenzie Lanham made 14 saves. North County’s goal was scored by Sydney Bollinger, while goalie Camryn Wyatt made 11 saves.

Chesapeake 8, Meade 1

Chesapeake (5-2, 5-4) led at the half 3-0 and scored five second-half goals to pull away from te Mustangs (0-7, 0-7). The Cougars were led by Ella Shannon’s two goals, with Lily Barnum and Olivia Elsis finishing with two assists each. Eden Abey, Kylie Capes and Alyssa Fraiser each chipped in with a goal and an assist. Chesapeake goalie Ryleigh Smoot made four saves.

Broadneck 2, Arundel 1

The Bruins (6-0-1, 8-0-1) stayed unbeaten on the season with the one goal victory over the Wildcats (3-3, 3-7).

Glen Burnie 8, Chesapeake SP 0

The Gophers (1-5, 2-8) earned the shutout win over CSP (0-5, 0-6).

Annapolis 2, Old Mill 1

The Panthers (5-3, 5-3) won their second straight game, edging the Patriots (2-5, 3-6) by a goal.

Boys soccer Chesapeake 1, Meade 0

Caleb Adams scored in the fourth minute off an assist from Riley Fitzpatric­k for the only goal in the Cougars (4-3, 4-3) win over the Mustangs (1-5, 1-5). Maxx Gray made seven saves for Chesapeake to secure the shutout.

Annapolis 2, Old Mill 1 OT

Ryan Cooper led the way for the Panthers (6-1-1, 6-1-1), scoring both goals, including the game winner in overtime for the second straight game. This makes four goals in the last three games for Cooper. Josue Reyes had the assist on the game winner and Mike Guzman made four saves, including one in overtime. Old Mill (4-3, 6-4) had trailed for most of the second half, but was able to score on a goal by Quantz Ramsey just before time expired to send the game to overtime.

Broadneck 3, Arundel 0

Riley Erbe had two goals, while Jaden Smith had two assists, to lead the Bruins (7-0, 9-1) to the shutout win over the Wildcats (4-2, 5-4-1). Mikey Johnson also scored for Broadneck, which got three saves from goalie Matt Tettemer. Arundel goalie Alejandro Monroy made six saves.

Severna Park 3, South River 2 OT

The Falcons (5-1, 7-1) scored in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime and then again in the extra period to earn the win over the Seahawks (4-1-2, 5-3-2). Cole Mastel scored the first South River goal off a Christian Gionis assist, and then Gionis converted a penalty kick in the second half. Jay Jenkins finished with 11 saves for the Seahawks.

Glen Burnie 4, Chesapeake SP 0

The Gophers (2-4, 3-6) earned the shutout win over CSP (0-4, 0-6) with a goal in the first half and three more in the second. Prince Osei scored two goals, while Gage Carter and Trevor Kramer scored one apiece. Diego Urbina and King Remi had one assist each, while Kramer had two saves.

Northeast 1, North County 0

The Eagles (2-5, 2-5) earned the shutout victory over the Knights (2-4-1, 3-4-1).

Key 6, Cristo Rey 0

Dylan Barnes (3 goals, assist), Uchenna Ahaghotu (2 goals, 3 assists), Vincent Palmeri (goal) and Drew Barnes (assist) all had strong offensive performanc­es in helping Key (2-0, 4-0) to the MIAA C Conference victory.

Broadneck def. South River — 3-0 [25-12, 25-21, 25-19]

The Bruins (8-1) earned the sweep over the Seahawks (2-6) behind big efforts from Natalie Luscomb (5 service points, 15 kills, 1 block, 11 digs), Bella Rubino (6 service points, 11 kills, 8 digs), Valleigh Brechtel (21 service points, 3 aces, 4 digs), Madeline Stewart (7 service points, 3 aces, 8 kills, 9 assist) and Hannah Waters (11 service points, 1 ace, 23 assist, 4 digs).

South River’s top players were Mia Keen (12-14 serving with 4 aces and 14 assist), Beth Mark (6 kills) and Lindsey Hutchins (7-8 serving with 2 aces and 5 kills).

Severna Park def. Old Mill — 3-0 [25-11, 25-20, 25-20]

The Falcons (5-3) swept the Patriots (6-4) behind strong efforts from Maggie Sale (13 kills, 4 aces), Perry Stevenson (10 kills), Emily Ranaghan (6 aces) and Taylor Stone (37 assists).

Chesapeake def. Chesapeake SP — 3-0

The Cougars (3-4) earned the sweep of CSP (2-6). Chesapeake SP was led by junior Veronica Howard (4 kills and 5 digs), junior Amari Roberts (4 kills), senior Destinee Phifer (3 kills, 3 aces, 3 assists) and junior Maddie Parks (6 assists, 1 kill, 1 ace).

Northeast def. North County — 3-0 [25-11, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21]

The Eagles (1-7) picked up their first win of the season with the sweep of the Knights (0-6). Yazmyn Calhoun led the way with 13 kills, 5 aces and 11 digs. Other standouts were Margret Lawerance (13 assist, 3 kills), Ava Knox (5 kills, 5 aces, and 3 digs), Julia Fox (6 kills, 4 kill block and 2 aces). Libero, Caden McCrory passed dimes on serve receive, while Shawna Ender had 6 aces and only two service errors after 20 attempts.

St. Timothy def. Key — 3-1 [25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 25-14]

Leaders for Key (1-3, 2-4) in the loss were senior Abby Pearse (5 kills, 6 assists, 7 digs), junior Jackie Mednick (5 aces, 4 kills, 7 digs) and senior Kayla Stephenson (2 aces, 2 kills, 14 digs).

Arundel def Meade — 3-0

The Wildcats (7-1) swept the Mustangs (0-5).
