George H. Fisher
George H. Fisher, (90) of Gambrills, MD, passed away on December 5, 2021. He was born on February 24, 1931, in Shamokin, PA of parents, Arthur and Katherine Fisher.
George is survived by three children, Kenneth Fisher, Pamela Rich and David Fisher; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth (Betty), who predeceased him on October 20, 2016.
George grew up in Kulpmont, PA. After high school he moved to Washington D.C. and eventually founded his own company, Old Dominion Steel Supply, Inc. in 1962. As President, the company grew and flourished, until, at age 63, he retired, a true self-made business man.
George met the love of his life, Betty Long, in high school and they married in 1949. George was deeply committed to God. He gave of himself generously through charitable gifts to their church and Christian organizations throughout the world.
George’s passion was hunting small and large wild game across North America.
His integrity as a person, love and devotion to his wife, family and God became a beacon for what it means to truly live and live well.
The funeral will be held at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD on Monday, December 13. The viewing will be 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Following the service, there will be a procession to Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, MD for a brief interment service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to either: Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, Bowie, MD; or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; or World Vision International.
