The Capital

Republican sour grapes

-

Mr. David Kelsey’s letter in the Aug. 7 Sunday Capital sounds like a sulky collection of sour grapes. Because Jessica Haire won the primary, and had not decided to lionize Trump, he believes it is a reason that Pittman will get a second term. I and many others disagree. Trump adoration is irrelevant to how this country is governed. What is clear is that Haire has the experience, record, education and desire to make this county a better place for all citizens, and not just Pittman’s special interests or his liberal activist fans. It sounds like Kelsey thinks it’s better to have a Democrat as county executive than a Republican because he is miffed.

Kelsey’s sarcastic suggestions do nothing to help achieve the primary goal of our party, i.e. to dump Pittman and the liberal Democrats. If he was a true Anne Arundel County Republican, Mr. Kelsey would get behind his party’s duly elected candidate for the November election, no matter who it may be, instead of whining that our candidate means victory for Pittman. The primary is over — Kelsey didn’t get his way. It’s too late to debate who the Republican candidate should be; the people have spoken. We all need to back Haire as Republicans so we can be done with the “Pittman nightmare” and send him back to care for his horses.

Give your vote to Jessica so we can again have a Republican county executive. It’s pointless to weep about Trump in this local election — he doesn’t matter. Maybe you can even repent by putting a Haire sign on your front lawn!
