Bulldogs rally past Knights

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday.

Softball

Southern 10, North County 6:

The visiting Bulldogs scored nine runs in the seventh inning to rally past the Knights. Kelly Medhurts struck out 12 in the win and freshman Jordyn Harmel (2-for-5) had an RBI and scored a run. Southern improved to 4-3 and has already matched last season’s win total.

The host Bruins had 14 hits in five innings and shut out the Patriots. Broadneck starter

Broadneck 10, Old Mill 0:

Hailey Adamson threw three innings before reliever Addie Cornelius closed out the game. Sam Waters had three hits, including a double and three RBIs for the Bruins.

Baseball

Broadneck 3, Old Mill 0:

Kobe Owen gave up four hits over seven innings during a complete game shutout for the host Bruins. Broadneck scored two runs in the second inning and one in the sixth.

Chesapeake-AA 2, Annapolis 1:

Winning pitcher Christian Spoone worked seven innings and struck out six and the visiting Cougars beat the Panthers. Jimmy Dreyer hit a sacrifice fly to put Chesapeake ahead.

Southern 7, North County 2:

Winning pitcher Thomas Martin worked six innings, gave up one run and struck out three and the visiting Bulldogs beat the Knights. Martin had three hits and an RBI. Gavin Crandell had two hits and scored two runs and CJ O’Brien had two RBIs for Southern.

Boys lacrosse Chesapeake 11, Glen Burnie 3:

Talan Behler had three goals and five assists to lead the visiting Cougars over the Gophers. Chesapeake got two goals from Ryan Kopp and Chase Bivens. Hunter Cappe made eight saves for the Cougars.

Annapolis 12, Old Mill 3:

With a strong second half effort, the host Panthers celebrated senior night with a victory over the visiting Patriots. Annapolis was led by Gage Berry and Brennan Shaffer with three goals each and Ronan Keohan and Jaeger Franz chipped in with two goals apiece. Old Mill’s William Turner scored twice for the Patriots.

Girls lacrosse Southern 15, North County 6:

Emmie Mudd scored a game-high eight goals to lead the host Bulldogs over the Knights. Southern got a hat trick from Brooke Parks and Mollie Schiavone. Maggie Blanford had four goals and Mikayla Petersen made 10 saves for North County.

Chesapeake 17, Glen Burnie 4:

Kelsie Payne and Lexi Vosburg each had three goals and two assists to lead the visiting Cougars (5-0) over the Gophers. Other top scorers for Chesapeake included: Lilly Patrick (3 goals, 1 assist) and Jasmine Fitzpatric­k (3 goals), Glen Burnie got two goals from Dakota Smith and Brynn Mitchell.

Severn 8, Garrison Forest 7:

Peach Wellschlag­er had a hat trick and Issy Leech had two goals to lead the visiting Admirals (4-6, 3-4 IAAM A Conference) over the Grizzlies (3-8, 0-8). Monday, Severn hosts John Carroll and Garrison Forest hosts Mount de Sales.
