Ringgold holds public hearings on several properties, accepts award from area church

-

The city of Ringgold held six public hearings during its most recent council meeting on Monday night, April 27, which included the rezoning and subdivision of multiple properties.

The council unanimously approved D&B Holdings Ringgold East LLC’s request to subdivided a 12-acre parcel of property into three parcels located at Tax Map 40, Parcel 71-3, and Dillard Partnership’s request that the property at Tax Map 39D, Parcel 30 be annexed into the city.

Glenn Sutherland, who spoke on behalf of both companies, said the requests pertained to a larger development plan that includes a restaurant project.

The council also approved the property Cracker Barrel currently sits on being rezoned from I-1 to C-2, as it has long been used for commercial use.

The same re-zoning was approved for Tax Map 39B, Parcel 57-2, which is where the former Los Reyes restaurant currently sits.

The council likewise approved Keith Ellis’ request to build an attached carport on his property and Carl Sexton’s request to subdivide his property into two lots at Tax Map 37D, Parcel 25.

After the hearings, the city accepted a plaque from Parkway Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe. The church honored the city during an April 19 service.

“They’ve given us this plaque for our commitment to serving the community,” councilman Randall Franks said. “They’re honoring those who serve our cities, counties, and regionally. This plaque is also for our police department”

The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m. with a work session to be held beforehand at 6 p.m.
