Boyle featured as centennial speaker at Fort Oglethorpe Kiwanis meeting
Aleq Boyle, national director and founding board chairman of Fremont Civic Philanthropies, was the featured speaker at the Fort Oglethorpe Kiwanis meeting Friday, May 1. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Kiwanis, making Boyle a Kiwanis international centennial celebration speaker.
Fremont Philanthropies, a civic educational society, offers professional speakers on community affairs, public policy and civic engagement matters.
Boyle spoke about Fremont’s biennial national collaborative with U.S. ACERS, (Alliance Cyclists for Economics, Recreation and Sports) and shared with community and business leaders about the 2015-17 “Civic Cycle Community Initiative” of which Fremont Philanthropies is a national partner.
Northwest Georgia was selected for special announcement because of the opportunities the area could benefit from if they choose to participate in the biennial project.
U.S. Acers will officially charter a local affiliate of the D.C. based cycling advocacy organization Saturday, May 16. The premier event will celebrate National Bike Week and Bike To Work Day and recognize area citizens from around the region who ride their bikes to work.
Boyle said Fremont Civics selected the collaborative because “cycling is one of the best ways anyone can truly explore and learn more about the communities we live in.” He also said it makes for a great civic lesson on learning where area cities may consider participation in the Civic Cycling Community Initiative.
