a 9-3 Tigers’ win.

Womack said it was a huge milestone for the program.

“I am extremely proud of these boys and I am very happy for them,” he said. “They are not just a very talented group, but they are also a very competitive, tough and unselfish bunch. They’re also an outstanding group of young men to be around.”

Womack said what sets them aside from other groups is their work ethic.

“They worked their tails off every day, picked each other up and everybody stepped up when the time came.”

Womack said this group in particular would be greatly missed and looked forward to seeing them do great things in the future years at Ringgold.

“I will definitely miss them, but I can't wait to see what they are able to accomplish at the high school level and beyond,” he said.

Gordon Lee Middle School baseball head coach Jeff Guffey said it was a tough loss to swallow.

"It hurts to go the distance and fall short at the very end," he said. "The league has improved so much now and all the teams have gotten better. I can't brag on some of these teams enough and the job they are doing. The league is a lot more equal than it has been in years' past, but it still hurts to come up short."

Ringgold scored three runs in the third inning of Game 3 to take the lead, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning to cruise to a 7-0 start.

The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning, while Gordon Lee scored its only runs during two at bats.

Andre Tarver and Wyatt Tennant had two hits each for the Tigers.

Holden Tucker, who was named the tournament's MVP, went the distance to get the win for Ringgold.
