Man arrested for assault after allegedly pulling gun on work detail inmates
A man has been arrested for allegedly pulling a gun on two inmates on work detail in Catoosa County, police say.
According to the Sheriff’s Department:
Ronald Branham Perry, 45, of Dogwood Valley Road in Tunnel Hill, was arrested Monday, July 11, on two counts of aggravated assault, plus possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The alleged incident occurred June 11 at mile marker 348 in Ringgold along I-75.
Two inmates said they were on work detail when a man in a Chevrolet Trailblazer drove up to them yelling, cursing and claiming they’d kicked up debris at his vehicle.
One of the workers also told deputies the man yelled something about being in a gang, but that the man got back in his vehicle and got off I-75 at exit 348.
The second worker, who was in the truck at the time, called 911, reports show.
“The other (second) worker stated the guy from the Trailblazer got out and walked around their truck and approached the other worker cussing and screaming about his vehicle,” deputy Katherine Moody said. “He stated the man was pointing a chrome .45caliber handgun.”
The workers were able to get the Trailblazer’s tag number, which lead to Perry’s arrest.
Perry was previously arrested in Fort Oglethorpe on Feb. 10, 2013, after he wrecked his motorcycle along Battlefield Parkway while driving DUI.
