Cats outscore Tigers in first football scrimmage.
Ringgold head football coach Robert Akins said the Tigers were celebrating the return of Friday night lights, regardless of the outcome in their Aug. 5 scrimmage at Bill Harmon Field.

Akins said he thought they needed to focus more on “reaching deep down inside and playing every play with more intensity.”
“I think we got in the doldrums a tonight on both sides of the ball, but there were still a lot of things I was proud of,” he said. “Our defense came up with some stops against a good football team, and our offense made some good plays too. However, we weren’t consistent enough.”
Akins said he antipated the Tigers being “more relaxed” on Friday against against visiting Notre Dame. in their second and final scrimmage.
Jones was also key for the Tigers with an interception.
