We will have revival services at Salem Oct. 23-26, with Rev. Jeff Greer preaching. Services will begin nightly at 7 p.m. You are invited to come and worship with us during this special time.

Just before sending in the news, I learned Buddy Thrash had gone on to his home in Heaven. He recently celebrated his 101st birthday. Pray for Willard and Pat and other family at this time.

Happy birthday to Susan Pierce Sept. 22, little Avve Taylor on the 23rd and Stan McDowell Sept. 28.

Closing thought: Prayer should be the key in the morning and the lock at night.

Bro. Gentry from Dogwood Christian School in Tunnel Hill preached in the Sunday morning service. Bro. David preached in the evening service. It was good to see our visitors in the services. Hope they will be back. It was especially good to see Collis and Joy Holcomb back and that Collis is doing better. Continue to pray for him.

We send condolence­s to the Stafford Family in the death of Bill Stafford. His wife, Ruby was in our Ladies Sunday School Class and prayed for Bill for years before he was saved. She died several years ago. Bill was now a member of Honestvill­e Baptist Church in Ooltewah.

Sunday School Classes don’t forget about your change for the Orphans of Nigeria. Bro. Timothy Ojo would like to give each orphan an outfit and a toy and game for Christmas. Bro. David is sure that his class is going to win and get the big breakfast. We’ll see.

The Fall Festival is Saturday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. with food, fun, fellowship, hayrides and everyone welcome.

Denise Pitts is still having lots of pain after her surgery. They do think that it is taking care of some of the pressure in her brain. We are thankful for that but it would be good for her not to be in so much pain. Louise Pangle is in a lot of pain in her hip and back. Pray for her and Donald. This is the day the Lord has made we will be glad and rejoice in it.

Sunday was another great day at the church. Brother Ronald Guffey preached Sunday morning a great message from John 11 the account of Jesus raising Lazarus. Several folk in the altar. I wish all of you could have heard the message what an encouragin­g message. We are running 50 cds of it because a lot of people asked for a cd. We all need to be encouraged from time to time.

Margie is slowly improving each day.

Sunday night brother Scott Stringer preached another great message.

Pray for Kathy Guffey she goes on the kidney treatment this week three times weekly. Tonie Robinson will have surgery at Emory on Tuesday morning. We sure have a lot of people sick. Pam Hyatt is in rehab at Siskin needs our prayers her and Ronnie.

Brother Tony Hyatt is having their fall meeting with a different preacher nightly. They start at 7:30 nightly.

Behold how good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity.

The Blakenship Family will be at North Whitfield Sunday morning in the 11 a.m. service singing you all have a special invitation if you don’t have a home church.

The church is having a working Saturday the 24th 9 a.m.

Janie Davenport is in the hospital pray for her.

I pray that all of you have a safe and blessed week.

Preaching time will be at Covenant Baptist Chuch the first Saturday night at 7 p.m. Brother Gladden Coe is the pastor. It is on Old Hixon Pike Chattanoog­a. Hope to see you there. Several preachers will preach.

The thought for the week: Press on weary pilgrims the Lord is still in control there is a brighter day ahead. I’m looking for the time when the Lord I can hear him say well done faithful servant. Welcome home. What a day that will be.
