Survivors include: Her husband of 56 years, Donald Crane; daughter, Sonya Crane of East Ridge, Tenn.; two sons, Ken (Julie) Crane of Ringgold and Darryl Crane of Jacksonvil­le, Fla.; sister, Linda Davis of East Ridge, Tenn.; brother, Hayven Thompson of Ringgold; two grandchild­ren, Jack and August and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 4, from 10-11 a.m. at South Crest Chapel.

Funeral service: Friday, Nov. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at South Crest Chapel with Rev. Gary Moore officiatin­g.

Burial: Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery in Ringgold.

Geraldine Ervine Cape, 95 Tunnel Hill

Geraldine Ervine Cape, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, in a local healthcare facility. She was 95.

Mrs. Cape was a native of Greenville, S.C., but spent the greater part of her life in the north Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith.

She was employed with Lake Winnepesau­kah for many years and loved playing bingo and working in her flower garden.

Mrs. Cape was preceded in death by her parents, Cam Elijah and Lola Ervine; husband, Jack Cape; sister, Mary Frances Blackstone and niece, Kathy Dodds.

Survivors include: Her daughters, Barbara Watkins and Brenda Cox; sons, Thomas and Joey (Alice) Cape; six grandchild­ren, 11 greatgrand­children and one great-greatgrand­child.

Visitation: Thursday, Nov. 3, from 2-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel.

Graveside service: Friday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Minister Dan Barton officiatin­g.

Mamie Arene Crowder Newton, 95 Ringgold

Mamie Arene Crowder Newton, of Ringgold, Ga., died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at her home in Ringgold. She was 95.

Although she grew up in Chattanoog­a, Tenn., she was a resident of Georgia for most of her life, having lived in Rossville and Ft. Oglethorpe prior to moving to Ringgold.

Miss Mamie, as she was known, was the oldest member of Community Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Ga. She was the matriarch and prayer warrior and greatly loved by the members. She and her husband, Milton, were founding members of Memorial Baptist Tabernacle where she taught the ladies Bible class for 46 years.

For many years she and her father operated a grocery store in Rossville.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Milton Lee Newton Sr.; son, Milton Lee Newton Jr., of Savannah, Ga.; her twin sister, Minnie Irene Wilson and her parents, Howard and Cordelia Farr Crowder all of Rossville.

Survivors include: Her daughter, Treasa (Bill) Akins of Ringgold; sister, Betty Lacy of Signal Mountain; granddaugh­ter, Terri (Hoguer) Hernandez; great-grandchild­ren, Sarah Schorle and Caleb Hernandez of Ringgold and Mitchell Akins of Atlanta; two great-great granddaugh­ters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, Nov. 4, from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Angel officiatin­g.

Burial: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

James Leonard Snyder, 49 Rossville

James Leonard Snyder, of Rossville, Ga., passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016. He was 49.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milford G. Snyder and grandson, Houston Wooden.

Survivors include: His wife, Tammy Gilreath Snyder; daughters, Brittany Gilreath, Tyra Myers, Candace Oakes, Starlla (Timmy Glenn) Snyder, Samantha Snyder, Jackie (Robert) Milton and Rosa (Eric) Edgeworth; mother, Helen Broadrick Snyder; sisters, Dolly (Marvin) Gann and Millie (Daniel) McGowan; 23 grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday, Oct. 30, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerred Lee Wallin, 26 LaFayette

Jerred “Jerrico” Lee Wallin, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2016. He was 26.

Survivors include: His mother, Lorri Lane Wallin; father, Jerry Lee (Tina) Wallin; sister, Kristy (Philip) Moore and Tiffany (Dusty) Mantooth; grandparen­ts, Bronco and Lois Lane and Martha and David Reece all of LaFayette; three nieces, four nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ada Jackson Ballard, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. She was 91.

She attended Church of God of Prophecy all of her life. Her faith was easily reflected in her ability to overcome great adversity with a great attitude.

She loved her home and all who entered, gardening, painting, sewing and creating ceramic art. Her family was her life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Ballard; sons, Bobby Ballard, Ernest Ballard and Melvin Ballard; parents, Thomas and Laura Jackson; brothers, Kermit Jackson, Charlie Jackson, R.B. Jackson and Carl Jackson; sonsin-law; Donald Steele, Lester Collins and Marion Dover and daughter-inlaw, Brenda Ballard.

Survivors include: Her daughters, Hazel Dover, Patsy Collins, Genelle (Steve) Harris and Darlene (Steve) Dixon; sons, Winfred (JoAnn) Ballard and Wayne (Perri) Ballard; 19 grandchild­ren; several great grandchild­ren and great-great grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law, Renae Patterson Ballard.

Visitation: Monday, Oct. 31, from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
