Competition cheer: Ringgold wins Region 6-AAA
Ringgold head competition cheerleading coach Tami Fleming said it’s amazing what a difference a year can make.
Looking back to this time last year in her first year with the Tigers, she said the experience was somewhat terrifying after finishing runners-up in the region, heading into her first state tournament.
On Saturday, the Blueand-White blew away their competition by scoring a season high of 256 points to win the Region 6-AAA Championship at the University of West Georgia. The win puts the Tigers in the finals of Saturday’s GHSA State Tournament set for Columbus with runners-up Calhoun, third-place Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Adairsville competing as well.
Fleming said she was extremely proud of her team, but expected to see all four schools in the finals.
“This was a huge win for our team, and I am incredibly proud of these young women,” she said.
Fleming said she knew it would be a “tough competition,” coming into the evening and had prepared her team for the inevitable.
“We told them there was going to be two really good teams going home,” she said. “But, they did great and everyone nailed their routines, and we didn’t have any deductions.”
The second, third and fourth place teams in each region will begin competition on Friday in the state sectionals, where the top eight teams will advance to Saturday’s competition.
The Ringgold competition squad, assisted by, Chelsea Rogers, are Maddie knight, Kloe Kukta, Madison Headrick, Lyndsey Smith, Callie Gilbert, Chloe Gray, Hali Clements, Addy Allen, Danna Dalton, Caley Sensing, Emily Broadrick, Mariah Clark, Maddie Mills, Janna Perpinan, Kendall Kukta, Kenzi Morgan, Mckenzie Sparks, Mary Kate Bullock, Mikayla Cook, Melayna Maynor, Georgie Moeller and Brianna Andrews .
