Competition cheer: Heritage wins Region 6AAAA
Coming off the Heritage Middle School’s fifth consecutive championship in the North Georgia Athletic Conference in competition cheerleading, followed by a win at Dalton last week with the high school team, head coach Meredith Burkett said she was feeling good heading into this year’s Region 6AAAA Competition at Dawson County High School.
Nevertheless, the Navy-and-Red didn’t disappoint delivering a dynamite performance to win the school’s first-ever region title. It also lands them in the Class AAAA state finals on Saturday in Columbus.
Burkett said she couldn’t say enough positive things about her team and the “level of talent” she and coach Cassey Campbell had to work with.
“I’ve coached most of these girls since 6th grade and watched them develop into the athletes that they are today and they truly blow me away,” she said. “Our girls have worked very hard this season, have come together as a team, and are focused and driven on success this upcoming weekend.”
Burkett said she couldn’t wait to see them have their “best performance yet” at the state competition.
As for her coach Campbell, she said she couldn’t say enough positive things about their hard work.
“I’m blessed to coach such a talented group,” she said. “I’m excited to see all of their hard work this season pay off at the state competition.”
